MONTREAL – A usually tranquil Côte St. Luc neighborhood was the site of a lengthy police operation over the Canada Day long weekend, with at least one apparent arrest.
Montreal police weren’t immediately responding to questions about the incident.
It began late Sunday afternoon at a townhouse on Centennial Ave., between Louis Pasteur Rd. and Mackle Road, and extended into Monday evening, according to Ian Steinberg, who lives on the street.
Indications that a marijuana-trafficking ring was involved could not be readily confirmed.
On Monday about 6 p.m., after Montreal police had pulled out of the area, they returned in significant numbers and partly barricaded the street soon after the arrival of a late-model white Audi.
Several officers were carrying long guns and wearing bulletproof vests, Steinberg said.
The apparent arrest followed.
“To put residents’ minds at ease,” Steinberg said, “we need to know what brought” Montreal police “to our neighborhood, to our street and to our townhouse complex.”

(humor) They were not there for me, as I only promote good wishes and smiles and for Canada Day celebrations.
