While Mayor Housefather and seven of the eight city councillors were elected by acclamation on October 4, the district 1 seat is being contested in a three way battle. Two-term incumbent Sam Goldbloom is up against candidates Marissa Sidel and Stewart Wiseman.

I have worked side by side with Sam for the last eight years. Sam has been very vocal in ensuring substantial traffic calming measures were installed in the North of Hamsptead area, that road work was done on MacDonald Avenue in conjunction with the Borough of CDN-NDG and that on street parking was improved along the same street. As I served as chairman of the Traffic Committee, Sam brought me to meet with residents at the Vicomte condominium on Clanranald at Vezina to help improve their access from the street to to their underground garage.

Sam Goldbloom is dedicated and committed to his district and to the city in general as the chairman of Library and Culture, as a promoter of the CSL Dramatic Society (and a hell of an actor) and as an experienced and wise councillor. I support his re-election in district 1.
