The hard line anti-English position at the STM has been laid bare and it’s ugly. Montrealers and tourists should be shown the respect they deserve by the transit authority. This is a front line public service. To serve the public one must be able to communicate with them. You can bury your head in the sand and pretend they all understand you when they do not or you can adapt to your customers and improve services.

The STM should be ashamed of their inexcusable corporate behaviour and lack of transparency. Mayor Coderre should put an end to this attitude at all levels of the municipal service.

The role of this agency and all local service is to provide value to taxpayers. The Quebec Government has much work to do to fix what is broken in Quebec’s linguistic landscape.
