The main event of the Côte Saint-Luc Winter Carnival takes place onSunday, February 8, 2015 from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park, and includes dog sled rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, ice sculptures, a snow mural, curling on ice, face painting, a figure-skating show and more.
“Last year, the weather was perfect and we welcomed an estimated 2,000 people at the park,” Mayor Anthony Housefather said. “Events like this not only bring the community together, but give families cherished memories like eating taffy on snow, tobogganing, or skating on our frozen lake.”
There will be a free pancake breakfast at 11:30 am, while supplies last. Also, the first 1,000 people will get free taffy-on-snow. After that, it will cost $2 per taffy stick.
The full list of activities is at CoteSaintLuc.org/WinterCarnival2015. Côte Saint-Luc will be mailing the event activity list to every home in Côte Saint-Luc.
In addition to the main Sunday events, Winter Carnival Week also includes the Peewee ‘A’ Outdoor Hockey Tournament from February 3 to 8 at the open-air Confederation Annex building at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park. This year, Côte Saint-Luc is welcoming 14 teams from Quebec and Ontario playing a record 26 games.
Côte Saint-Luc is also hosting an adult hockey tournament on Friday, February 6 from 9:30 pm to 12:20 amat the Samuel Moskovitch Arena. There will be public skating at the arena on Saturday, February 7 from 8 pm to 9:20 pm. Then, a week later, on Saturday, February 14 will be the annual Winter Carnival Valentine Dance at the Côte Saint-Luc Gymnasium from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
All Côte Saint-Luc Winter Carnival events are free except for the public skating event and the Valentine Dance on February 15. The entrance fee for public skating is $6 (or free with a Fun Card). Proceeds from the public skating event and donations will go to Ronald McDonald House. Tickets for the dance are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
