Supervisor Susie Schwartz and her husband Harvey, integral members since vCOP’s inception on July 1, 2006, were recognized for their enduring dedication. As founder and chairman, I personally acknowledged their exemplary service, alongside member Bernie Band, all of whom have served for 18 years. As well, supervisor Elaine Meunier and her husband Abe Miller were recognized for their 15 years and supervisor Mitchell Herf, a 17 year member was also thanked for outstanding contributions.

The supervisors, all volunteer their time in organizing and coordinating vCOP operations which is vital in maintaining Cote Saint-Luc as the safest municipality in the Montreal region.

vCOP operates entirely on volunteer efforts, with members receiving extensive training to patrol in marked vehicles, electric scooters, and bikes. They provide essential coverage at civic events, equipped and in constant communication with emergency dispatchers at the CSL Emergency Communications Centre.

Looking ahead, vCOP is launching a fundraising campaign to expand their capabilities, seeking support for important items such as a new electric bicycle, first aid equipment and supplies. Particularly noteworthy is the need for a patrol vehicle, so we invite potential donors or dealerships and leasing companies to contribute to this essential cause through Chief Dubois.

For those inspired to join this dedicated team, the next recruitment cohort begins this fall. Visit the vCOP webpage for more information on how you can become involved in safeguarding our community.

As we celebrate 18 years of vCOP’s unwavering service, let us continue to recognize and support their efforts in ensuring Cote Saint-Luc remains a secure and thriving place to call home.
